Thomas LISTER and Elizabeth Jane LORD

Thomas Lister snr here is as far back as I've got on the Lister branch. He was a master mariner (sea captain) and we don't know whether he had a girl in every port, but he certainly had Elizabeth in Liskeard, Cornwall back in the 1860's. It's all a bit of a mystery as Elizabeth appears to have been Canadian and there is no record of their marriage. They had a couple of sons in Cornwall but then Thomas disappears off the scene and Elizabeth reappears in Gloucester in the 1880s.

Neil Lister (their Great Great Grandson) has been researching this family and has a few ideas of what went on in between - and a suspicion that he isn't Thomas' descendent after all. Check my web site for the full story...

The great thing about family history research is you make contact with distant cousins who are investigating the same branches of your family tree. The only problem is that every piece of information you uncover you need to tell several people about and soon end up spending longer doing email than doing research so I thought I would start a blog.

The Story So Far
What I'm aiming to do is identify all of my ancestors back to 3x Great Grandparents. I'm lucky that over the last hundred years or so most of them lived in Bristol. Before that they were variously in Gloucester, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. Family names include
